A mid-market brand typically has orders in its commerce platform, customers in its email tool, spend in several ad platforms, stock in an ERP and actuals in an accounting system. Each holds part of the picture. A data pipeline is the scheduled process that pulls data out of those sources, cleans it and loads it somewhere it can be combined and used.
Many brands already have some of this, built in a hurry with scripts or exports that someone runs by hand. The pipelines work until an API changes or the person who wrote them leaves. We replace that with something documented, monitored and owned.
What we build
- Source connections. Extracts from your commerce platform, ad platforms, email and SMS tools, ERP, subscriptions and support desk.
- A central store. A warehouse or database where the data lands in a consistent shape, with history kept.
- Models. Clean tables for orders, customers, products and spend that reporting and other tools can use directly.
- Reverse flows. Data sent back out, such as customer segments to your email tool or margin data to merchandising.
- Monitoring. Freshness and volume checks, with alerts to the right person when a load fails or looks wrong.
Every pipeline is written down with its source, schedule, owner and what to do when it fails. That record matters more than the tooling, because it is what lets your team keep the pipelines running after we hand them over.
Tools we use
We prefer proven connectors over custom code. Airbyte covers a wide range of commerce and marketing sources for bulk data movement. n8n suits event-driven flows where data needs to trigger an action in another system. Custom code fills the gaps where no connector exists. The choice depends on volume, how fresh the data needs to be and who on your team will maintain it. Where possible, the warehouse and the transformation code live in accounts you own, so the data stays yours whoever runs it.
Pipelines are what make analytics and dashboarding reliable. Operational integrations, such as orders flowing to your ERP, are covered under ERP integration. This work is part of our ecommerce strategy and roadmapping service.
