Going Mobile with Mac’s

Mac’s Convenience Stores now offer a mobile optimized version of their Store Locator

Since the launch of MyMacs.ca, we have been discussing ways to reach out to customers on the go with our fellow project collaborators at 612 Creative. We all know how popular and prevalent smartphones and tablets have become. Missing out on mobile offerings is missing out on opportunities.

We entertained three possible solutions for addressing the mobile audience: a Mac’s app, a dedicated mobile website, and a mobile-optimized store locator function within the main website. When we factored in what Mac’s wanted to achieve through their mobile presence -- drive traffic into their their stores -- the choice was clear. Helping mobile customers find their closest Mac’s store was really all the client wanted. So we built an interface that automatically detects mobile browsers and displays much of the same information as the desktop version: address, hours of operation, features (ATM, gas, food options, etc.) and a street map.

We also added the ability to create mobile-ready landing pages that allow Mac’s to run online campaigns through both desktop and mobile browsers. This functionality is built into the main CMS, complete with the ability to manage regionalized content.
