eCommerce Infographics: Amazon vs. Walmart

In case you didn't hear, Amazon celebrated its 20th anniversary with Prime Day; a one-day shopping event that had even more deals than Black Friday. The sale was limited to prime members, but included deals on electronics, toys, video games, movies, clothing, and many other popular items.

With 244 million active users, Amazon is by far the largest online retailer in the world. But how does it compare to the big brick-and-mortar players? In honor of Prime Day, WebpageFX created an infographic comparing the eCommerce giant to the world’s largest retailer: Walmart.

While Walmart has been around for 32 years longer than Amazon (which was founded in 1994 & launched a year later), they have 14 times as many employees. In addition, its net sales were over five times that of the online retail store, Amazon’s astounding 20% year-over-year growth, indicating that it’s a strong competitor.

However, Amazon knows it needs to keep improving if it wants to remain at the top of its eCommerce game. And considering that Walmart is now expanding its eCommerce storefront, things could get even more interesting.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison:
