78% of Canadians are now shopping online.

78%!

And this number is only going to go up.

According to Canada Post, eCommerce sales in Canada continue to rise about 15% year over year as more Canadians are beginning to see how easy and convenient online shopping is. "Consumers are dipping their toe into e-commerce, testing the waters, and becoming very quickly converted," says Danielle Doiron, director of parcels and e-commerce market development at Canada Post.

The amount of money Canadians are spending online continues to see massive growth as well. Forrester predicts that by 2019 Canadian consumers will spend C$39.9 billion online and will represent 9.5% of total retail transactions in Canada.

But it’s not only the Canadian consumer that is having a major impact on the growth of eCommerce as a whole. The innovative eCommerce technology coming out of Canada is remarkable.

One of the leading eCommerce platforms for SMB owners, Shopify–who you've probably heard of before–hails from Toronto, but there are many other Canadian software companies you need to know about; these guys are shaping the future of eCommerce for the better.

Many of these companies are bridging the gap between what the merchant needs to grow sales and improve productivity, providing the consumer with the modern shopping experience they expect, all while making the technology process smooth and easy for the developer.

We don't know if it's the maple syrup or the poutine that’s playing a part in keeping the minds of these Canucks sharp, but whatever the case may be, they’re managing to create some pretty epic, next-level, technology.

By now we hope we've piqued your curiousity because we've got an eBook explaining just who these companies are.

You'll learn:

How they got their start What are some of their features Who are some of their big clients Who they are fit for What they specialize in
